The Easiest Ways to Clean Walls

The easiest way to refresh a room might be to scrub the walls. Cleaning our walls does not always come up to our mind and sometimes it’s the last thing we think about or it never crosses us.
You would be shocked by how your wall is covered in dirt without you even noticing it until you bump into it or out of a sudden you leaned to your wall and had a moment that you would be cleaning it. (Drama intensify: Slowly sliding down the floor)
Let us take that drama out of your life and help you give your room a refreshing look!  Follow these cleaning steps and your room would look brighter and it might boost your energy and brighten up your day!

Painted Walls

For painted walls, you’ll need the ff.:
  • Dry dust mop
  • Microfiber cloth
  • Soft sponge
  • Mild dishwashing liquid
  • Magic Eraser (optional)
Steps to follow:
  1. To remove dust or cobwebs down along the baseboards or up near the crown molding, use a dry mop. A mop with a telescopic handle will make it easy to reach up high without pulling out a ladder, as well as down low without bending down.
  2. Grab a microfiber cloth to dust around light switch plates or any details, like if you have a chair rail molding.
  3. If your walls need a more thorough cleaning, first check the finish. Duller finishes, like matte or flat paint, are more delicate, while shinier finishes, like semi-gloss, are better at handling water or cleansers.
  4. Fill a bucket with warm water and a squirt of mild dishwashing liquid (preferably undyed). Dip the sponge, then wring out almost completely before wiping the walls. (Note: You want the sponge to be damp, not wet, or else drips can leave marks on your wall).
  5. For small spots and scuffs: A Magic Eraser is typically up to the challenge. Just test a small, inconspicuous spot on the wall first to make sure it won't affect the paint color.

Wallpapered Wall

WARNING: Before you scrub your wallpapered wall check the cleaning instructions on the manufacturers' website. If your wallpapered wall is delicate and is antique it is best for you to skip a cleaning that involves water.
Here’s what you’ll need:
  • Vacuum with a brush attachment
  • Dry duster (optional)
  • Mild dishwashing liquid
  • Soft sponge
  • Clean towel
Steps to follow:
  1. Using the brush attachment on your vacuum, carefully dust the wall, paying special attention along with the molding and baseboards. Alternatively, you can use a dry duster. Always start at the top of the wall and work your way down, so dust doesn't end up falling onto an area you've already cleaned.
  2. If dusting isn't enough, combine warm water with a few drops of mild dishwashing liquid. Dip a soft sponge, wring it out, and test in an inconspicuous spot, such as behind a piece of furniture. Does the water absorb into the paper or does the color bleed? If so, skip this method. If not, you're good to go.
  3. Gently wipe the wallpaper with the barely-damp sponge, then follow with a clean towel to make sure moisture doesn't sit on the wallpaper.

Brick Walls Indoors

What you need:
  • Newspaper or tarp
  • A vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment
  • Spray bottle filled with Dish soap and salt
  • Boric acid
Steps to follow:
  1. Take decorative accents off the walls and cover floors and furnishings in the vicinity with tarp or old newspaper to protect them from cleaning solvent splatter.
  2. Remove loose dust and dirt from the brick surface using a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment.
  3. Dry brick readily absorbs cleaning solvents, causing it to fade or become discolored with unsightly white or greenish scum. To avoid this, enlist a spray bottle filled with water to saturate the dry brick before applying any cleaners.
  4. Next up, continue with one of the following two methods: scrubbing the brick with dish soap and salt or scouring stains with boric acid.
